Hi, I'm Kristine H. I am a Nutritionist with an MS in Clinical Nutrition from Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine. I recently moved to Durango, CO after spending most of my life in Honolulu, HI. I become a Nutritionist and then a Health Detective and Health Strategist after many years of living with my own mystery illness. Now I enjoy helping others recover from chronic health issues through epigenetics, longevity science, and simple lifestyle measures that have been shown to optimize health. I am not a Physician and therefore cannot legally diagnose, treat or cure any condition, but I can direct your towards your goals based upon your health history and what you share with me.
I have seen how smart nutritional supplementation can make a dramatic impact on one's health and how one feels. For supplements I use and recommend Fullscript, as their professional brands are reputable and are quality tested. I also believe that working within the framework of one's unique epigenetics can be a quick way to uncover the underlying cause(s) of your health concerns. So rather than taking a shot in the dark approach, I often recommend 3x4 Genetics, as I think this company holds the best combination of thoroughness and ease of use.
Every body is different and comes with it's own unique nutrient needs. I always consider the biochemical individuality of each person, based on the uniqueness of their genes, history and environment. Looking for the underlying cause of your symptoms allows us to rewind, and then unwind, the lifestyle areas that allowed the symptoms to arise in the first place.
Much of the U.S. population has silent nutrient deficiencies due to issues ranging from poor soil health, food deserts, the growing availability of unhealthy foods, and individual epigenetic variations. Epigenetic variations may be affected by changes in stress level, sleep, hormones, diet, exercise, your exposome, and other factors, which then may require more nutrients than usual for your cells to function normally. I like to recommend micronutrient testing to pinpoint areas of deficiency because clearing deficiencies up is an easy way to make positive change..
Vitamins and supplements don't take the place of healthy food and cannot correct an unhealthy diet, but they can fill in the blanks at times when the body requires extra nutrients. The foundation of good health lies in lifestyle practices such as a healthy diet, good sleep, regular exercise, stress reduction, and limiting our daily exposures. Your daily choices have the potential to lead to unwanted symptoms, but also for you to feel vital and strong.
To your good health and nutrition,
Kristine H
